I listen to a lot of music. All day, everyday. When you have spent the last 10 years selecting music for couture fashion brands, high-end hotels, retailers and international A-listers, you really have no choice but to listen to as much music from around the world as possible.

With that said, I can tell you, Disturbing Tha Peace/ Island Def Jam artist Rudy Currence has one of the best voices I have every heard. Period. Live and on record, Rudy’s voice KILLS 99.9% of what we are force fed on the radio daily.

I had the privilege of watching this prolific singer/songwriter’s talent grow from my days in college in SC to where Rudy is today. One of the first concerts I promoted was for Rudy in Charlotte, NC  at this legendary hot spot called Tonic. The same spot that I broke fire code promoting a show for Dwele and Scratch from The Roots. (Another story for another day.)

Just last month, Rudy released a remake of “Soul Bossa Nostra” (think Austin Powers theme music) with his label boss Ludacris and Quincy Jones. You read correctly. Luda and Quincy, muh-fu*in’, Michael Jackson Thriller-makin’, Jones! They did a video and performed the song on The View. It simply does not get any bigger than that, unless you know someone who has a song with Jesus and James Brown.

Rudy’s major debut “Black Keys and Blue Skies” is set to be released this year. If you are not watching this star rise, you’re sleeping. He is definitely an artist to keep an eye on in 2011 and beyond.
